  • Recommendations for extracurricular involvement and summer programs
  • Creation of activities résumé/CV
  • Testing recommendations (SAT I, SAT II, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS)  What test(s) to take, when to schedule, suggestions of various types of test preparation, how to submit scores
  • In-depth interview regarding college preferences of both student and parent(s)
  • Career investigation based upon preference assessments
  • Advice regarding the acceptance of university degrees worldwide/Possibilities and aspects of establishing residency in the country in which the student studies

  • Refinement of choices of college/university type and possible major based upon interest survey(s) and further student input
  • Preparation and delivery of selected list of as many as 20 colleges/universities or university programs uniquely suited to the student’s needs based upon interviews with student and parent(s).  (The student is responsible  for researching those institutions in depth.)
  • Suggestions for student follow-up research of recommended colleges/universities
  • Advice on planning effective college/university visits
  • Essay/Personal Statement brainstorming
  • Editing of all required application essays and/or Personal Statement(s)
  • Assistance with the logistics of preparing applications  (Actual submission of applications will usually be handled by the student’s high school college/university counselor(s).)
  • Assistance, if necessary, with requesting teacher recommendation letters  (Advising recommenders of the nature of successful recommendation letters in various countries)
  • Recommendations and coaching for successful college/university interviews
  • Assistance with financial aid applications
  • Advice on making final decision after acceptance letters have been received
  • Visa assistance, as needed
  • Session focusing on transition to college
  • E-mail follow-up with student during first semester of college – 2 contacts

Included in the Premier Package are consultations and consulting time  – face-to-face conferences (when possible), Skype sessions, e-mail contacts, phone contacts, and research – putting decades of college admission experience to work on behalf of your student.

College/University Recommendation List Exclusively (Grades 11 and 12)

A student attending a high school which provides college counseling services may require assistance only with focusing on colleges/universities which will be appropriate application choices based upon the student’s personal interests and academic record.  Included in the Recommendation List package are the following services:

  • In-depth interview focusing on college preferences of both student and parent(s)
  • Contact established with student’s high school college counselor
  • Review of student’s high school academic record
  • Refinement of choices of college type and prospective majors/areas of concentration based upon interest survey(s)/student input
  • Preparation and delivery of list of 18-20 selected colleges/universities uniquely suited to the student’s needs based upon interview(s) with student and parent(s), as well as upon subsequent input
  • Student is responsible for researching recommended institutions in depth and making final application choices
  • Suggestions for student follow-up research of recommended institutions will be provided
  • Logistics of application submission will be handled by the student’s high school counselor(s).

College/University Recommendation List Fee available upon request.

One-Hour Consultation Options

StudyHorizons is available for one-hour consultation services providing information and advice relating to suitable high school course selections for university-bound students and to the college/university search and application processes worldwide, as well as vacation, summer, and gap-year opportunities.  Focus of each session is at the discretion of the client.  (This is not to include the development of the college/university recommendation list.)

Customized Service Blocks

Pre-paid four-hour Customized Service Blocks may be scheduled for any educational consulting services desired (with the exception of the development of the college/university recommendation list).  Please see suggestions in the Consultation Options above.  Essay Development may also be a choice for this Service Block.  The four hours may be delivered at one time or broken up into a series of half-hour, one hour, or two-hour sessions.  The choice is yours! The focus of each session is at the discretion of the client.

Essays/Personal Statements/Motivational Letters

Because they form one of the most influential aspects of a student’s application, college admission essays should be composed with great care and attention to detail.  Note:  Superior essay outcomes result from hours of interaction with a student.  The best essay assistance can be provided within the Premier Package, as that plan permits the greatest opportunity for your student to be known and understood, as well as providing assistance with all of the required essays.  

  • Essay/Personal Statement/Motivational Letter topic brainstorming
  • Discussion of what constitutes a successful essay or personal statement
  • Assistance with focusing on essay topic
  • Extensive editing assistance – Editing includes suggestions for additions, deletions, changes, and corrections, with an explanation of the rationale for each suggested change.  Purpose, word choice, sentence structure, paragraphing, punctuation, spelling, tone, and overall effectiveness are considered.
  • Editing will continue until a satisfactory result has been achieved

Customized Service Block of Four Sessions Fee available upon request.

~ Services beyond those indicated on any of the above packages will be billed on a per-consultation basis or, if desired, another Customized Service Block of four sessions may be booked.

~ Please Note:  Additional travel charges of €0.30 per kilometer will apply to sessions which the client chooses to schedule at locations other than at StudyHorizons, Ehningen, Germany. Services may be delivered through Skype, telephone, and e-mail communications, when desired.

~ Fees paid in U.S. dollars are dependent upon the exchange rate on the day services are contracted.
